QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read, write and follow directions
- A desire to do custodial work
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cares and keeps the assigned school building, area and/or office space clean, safe, energy-efficient, environmentally acceptable and orderly.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sweeps, dusts, cleans, mops, washes and/or polishes classrooms and other areas as assigned.
- Moves, arranges and repairs furniture and equipment.
- Cleans and picks up papers or other debris on grounds and courts of buildings; empties trash into proper containers.
- Waters plants, prunes and cares for planted areas.
- Locks and unlocks doors and gates as assigned.
- Cleans and maintains floors by using and operating appropriate equipment.
- Inspects and makes minor repairs to school buildings and equipment, including changing of light bulbs, painting, care of boiler and air compressor, and maintenance of fire extinguisher equipment.
- Cleans filters, lubricates motors, fans, pumps, pneumatic valves, etc., as assigned.
- Performs gardening, custodial minor maintenance and other related duties as assigned.
- Notifies the Supervisor of Maintenance and Custodial Services as well as the building principal, if it is necessary to be absent from work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 45 Working Days
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the policy of the Board of Education regarding evaluation of non-instructional (support staff) personnel.
